*HONORABLE MENTION in the 2004 NFA Newly-Published Music Competition
The Vibrato Workbook by Chris Potter was written to provide a structure to learn how to create and use vibrato. It can be used by a teacher and student or by any individual. A CD of selected exercises is included. The book starts with learning how to produce a controlled straight tone and, through a series of exercises and melodies, the flutist arrives at six pulses per second of a controlled, even vibrato. Section two of the book works on the matching, controlling and making choices about the intensity of the pulses and a third section makes suggestions regarding when, where and how much vibrato to use. Teachers and individuals will appreciate being able to “turn the page” and know that progress is being made.
" I wanted to personally thank you for your VIBRATO book! I have used it for several group classes and I'm having my students of all ages use it. What a wonderful resource for flutists of all ages and levels to learn how to produce and control vibrato. It's great as both a primer and a maintenance program." - Wendy Webb Kumer
