This piece exhibits Brahms' great lyric gift as well as his characteristically  flexible treatment of rhythm and harmony.  Scored for 3 C flutes, alto & bass, this arrangement places much emphasis on the rhythmic interplay between the C flutes and the alto & bass parts.
