In the early nineteenth century, Clara Schumann was famous throughout Europe as a pianist and composer, rivaling Liszt in popularity. These Three Romances, originally written for violin, demonstrate why her music was so popular. Similar in style and expressivity to the character pieces by Robert Schumann and Johanne Brahms, these lyrical gems translate beautifully and naturally to the flute.
